Sucking a fish out of a womans vagina? -Cultural sex norms

During all of the multicultural and ethno-psychological courses i have taken i realized we are taught to learn about cultures, and non-verbal communication cues. Norms in body language and even encourage to learn about multiple religions. This led me to ask myself what about one of the most important aspects of human behavior. Sex? Does sex have a norm? If so, What is normal sex? I asked this question to my professor who had no clue, and told me that was my assignment for my final project.

After researching for just a few minutes i came across these odd Cultural norms of sex. If you have any comments or any other you might like to add just comment below.

-On Ponape, a South Pacific island, typical foreplay would involve a man placing a fish in his lover’s vulva. He would then slowly lick it out.

-On the island of Inis Beag near Ireland, sex education is non-existent. No-one has ever heard of cunnilingus and a female orgasm is considered to be deviant.

-Meanwhile, on the island of Mangaia in the South Pacific, 13 year old boys are taught cunnilingus by an older woman, and trained to bring a woman to orgasm at least twice before he has his own orgasm.

-In Hong Kong a woman that was cheated by her husband has the right to kill him, but only if she uses her hands.

-In Guam there are men who work by traveling in countries and sleeping with virgins. Girls pay well this service because they are forbidden to marry as virgins.

-Greeks are punished severely if they cheat. Infidelity is punished sometimes by pulling pubic hair in public, followed by putting a huge radish into the anus

-In some Islamic countries women can be killed while committing adultery, while men receive light sentences.

-In Saudi Arabia, adultery is punished severely by stoning.

-In India it is cheaper to pay a prostitute than to buy a condom

-In Indonesia, if you’re caught masturbating, you risk to be decapitated.

-if you violate a virgin in Cafa (south-west Ethiopia) you are punished with beheading or have your hands cut.

-The most popular form of marriage in the world was polygamy, but it can not be widely practiced today because of high costs of keeping more than one wife.

-Once, special boys were chosen from Alaskan Koniag, they were educated as women since childhood, eventually becoming the wife of a tribal chief

-in the South American Lakes and in Caquiteros. Here, homosexuality is an accepted practice and women who give birth to five sons get permission to educate one of them as if they were female.

-In Bahrain a doctor (male) may examine the genitals of a woman legally, but it is forbidden to look them directly during the examination. He can only see a reflection in a mirror.

– In Santa Cruz, Bolivia it is illegal for a man to have sex with a mother and her daughter at the same time.

-The Australian Aborigines temporarily exchange wives as a gesture of friendship and goodwill at the ceremonies where puberty rites are held for their kids. The wives often initiate this, enjoying the change of ”scenery” as well.

-Homosexual relationships are an accepted practice among the men and boys of the Siwans of Africa. The few who do not participate are considered peculiar.

-Lesu children are permitted to watch adults, other than their parents, copulate.

-The Ila people of Africa encourage their children to fully develop their sexual capabilities, permitting them any form of sexual expression they wish to partake in. It is claimed there are no virgins older than age 10 in this society!

-Upon reaching puberty, boys of Mangaia (one of the Cook Islands) are given sexual instruction – including many details of positioning, and delaying their own satisfaction so that their partner women may experience multiple orgasms.

-Some sects require a priest to deflower a virgin before she consummates her marriage with her husband.

-The Aweikoma of Brazil are very literal people. Because eating and intercourse each involve entering bodily orifices, they use the same term for both activities.

-The inhabitants of Bali, and the Lepcha of Sikkim have no elaborate rituals or practices of seduction. If sex is desired, one only need ask for it – this is true for both men and women.

-If a Goajiro woman of Colombia successfully trips a man during a ceremonial dance, he is required to have intercourse with her.

-Pacific-dwelling Marquesan men have acquired the ability to prolong their ejaculations indefinitely until their partner is fully satisfied. It is considered normal for the women to experience at least 3 orgasms.

-During the latter stages of a Hidatsa woman’s pregnancy, her husband is allowed intercourse with her sister.

-Its not uncommon for the Aranda of Australia to copulate three to five times nightly, sleeping for short intervals in between activity.

– Anytime there is a show of blood from the uterus (during menses or after birth) a Jewish woman must not engage in sex with her husband. There are laws of family purity that say when and when not to engage in sex. During pregnancy, however, is the one time in a Jewish woman’s life when it is permissible to have sex all the time.

-Pagans Great Rite is also known as the “Sacred Marriage”. It an actual sexual union between the high priest and high priestess of the coven, used in ritual to represent the sexual union between the Goddess and the God.

-Pagans are not the only ones in the world who practice some sort of sexual spirituality. In Indonesia, they celebrate a holiday called Pon. Seven times a year, celebrants make a pilgrimage to Java, to a sacred mountain, to perform a ceremony of good fortune through intercourse. To receive such blessings, participants must spend the night having sex with someone other than their husband or wife.

-If you travel to Haiti, to the waterfalls of Saut d’Eau, during the month of July, you may witness a quite risqué ritual. Voodoo practitioners make this journey each summer to worship the goddess of love.

-France has long been considered one of the most romantic countries in the world. Millions of newlyweds flock there for their honeymoons. Nevertheless, I have to wonder if they take those vows seriously once they get there. Here’s why: 41% of French adults have admitted to participating in an orgy and 27 percent of them have engaged in partner swapping. Forget the City of Lights; Paris may very well be the City of Swingers.

– Apparently, in Romania, oral sex is something that only prostitutes, and their respective Johns, participate in. It’s considered degrading for a woman to give head.

-Muslim couples are only allowed to have sex in missionary position. It’s considered gross and degrading for a man to ask anything other position from his wife. The Koran also disapproves of any type of intercourse in which the head or rear end face Mecca.
